The day I went on the first date with my now wife was a catastrophe. I mean how did she date me after this. So, to carry you along on this journey I will break it down: plan, drive, meeting. That’s the steps but somehow I screwed it up along the way. It’s always funny to look back at this because even now she gives me a hard time.

The plan, easiest part, right? You arrange a time and place typically some place you both like or want to try, we chose sushi and a place I’ve never been to. So, this is where I think things are going well! She gave me the restaurant name and told me it’s nearby. I was unaware that there are 2 restaurants named that! You see where this is going but hang on, I get even more stupid. I pull up the store name on google, select the wrong store location, and start getting ready. Now my car at this time had no air conditioning and I had a 30 minute drive in the wrong direction.

I get to my car and take my shirt off to not get it sweaty, put it on the passenger seat, and turn the car on. I keep the door open while I pull the address up, the wrong address yes, and roll the windows down then close the door and go. Once I get to the sushi place I text her and sit down. She said she arrived and said she was waiting outside, as I was. We cannot find each other so I sent a picture of where I am, and then I got a phone call. We ended up having a conversation and we both concluded that I was in the wrong place. And by come to the conclusion I mean she laughs and makes fun of me. It was hilarious because she gave me the name and even told me where to go. I get in my car and start my journey to see my date for the first time, in the correct way this time.

My future wife is sitting there for over 30 minutes in like 90-degree weather and humidity, and then I park. She sees me getting out of my car in my tank top and put my nice shirt on. I know she does because she keeps bringing that up. I don’t know how she stayed there and why. She could’ve left at any point. We exchanged our greetings and had an amazing lunch, even met up later. This wasn’t really about the lunch and what happened after. This story was about the screw up I made and how I was given all the information I needed and still went in the wrong direction. I still don’t know how she stayed with me and even said yes when asked the question. I do know this though…she’s never letting this go.
